TCF Canada practice questions, level by level and task by task
Full mock tests show where you stand. The question bank is where the score moves. Listening and Reading climb from A1 to C2, so the fastest way up is to work on the first level where you get fewer than half the questions right. Writing and Speaking each have three tasks with their own skills, from a short message to defending an opinion.
Listening and Reading questions are marked straight away, with answers you can review. Writing and Speaking tasks are assessed against FEI's published criteria, with feedback on exactly what to change.
What you can practise
| Test | Practice | Marking |
|---|---|---|
| Listening (Compréhension orale) | Sets of ten questions at each CEFR level, from A1 to C2, each recording played once | Marked straight away, with answers to review |
| Reading (Compréhension écrite) | Sets of ten questions at each CEFR level, from A1 to C2 | Marked straight away, with answers to review |
| Writing (Expression écrite) | Each of the three tasks on its own, within the real word limits | Estimated mark out of 20, with feedback on each of FEI’s criteria |
| Speaking (Expression orale) | Each of the three tasks with a live French examiner | Estimated mark out of 20, with feedback on each of FEI’s criteria |
What is in the TCF Canada question bank?
Practice for every TCF Canada test: Listening and Reading sets by CEFR level, from A1 to C2, and each of the three Writing tasks and three Speaking tasks on its own, timed like the real test.
Can I practise one level or one task at a time?
Yes. You can work on a single CEFR level in Listening or Reading, such as B2, or a single task, such as Writing Task 3, without taking a full mock test.
Is any of the question bank free?
Yes. Free accounts get a free set in every part of the question bank, so you can try each part of the test before upgrading.
How many questions are in a Listening or Reading set?
Ten. Each set stays at one CEFR level, so you always know which level you are working at.
Should I take a full mock test before using the question bank?
It helps. A mock shows your NCLC in each test, so you know which part of the question bank to start with: your lowest test decides your NCLC for Express Entry.
